September 18, 2023 - Township Letter to Property Owners - Eagle Rock and Larkin RE: Water Metering Program Update
The Township of Spallumcheen is committed to sustainably delivering services to its community members by managing its infrastructure well and planning ahead for updates and replacements. To support this commitment, the Township is implementing consistent water metering to enhance the water utility service and align with Spallumcheen’s environmental protection and sustainability objectives.
The Township now manages the following water local area services (Larkin, Eagle Rock, Hankey, Pleasant Valley, Round Prairie, Highland Park, Lansdowne, Silver Star and Stardel) and is integrating them in the Township's water utility while completing system improvements. Stepping Stones is another water local area service within the Township and is currently managed through Greater Vernon Water, and therefore is not included in this round of improvements. One of the steps in this process is installing new water meters within the areas identified on the map.

The goal of the metering upgrade is to achieve consistency among all water systems within the Township, leading to improved service delivery. This includes installing new meters on properties without a metered connection and replacing and upgrading existing water meters on others. The majority of the existing meters have reached their expected life span, and new meters with more efficient reading technology are proposed.
The Township will start installing the new water meters in the summer of 2023 at no cost to property owners. Residents living in the areas receiving the upgraded meters will be notified well in advance. The team will work diligently to ensure that the installation is done as quickly and efficiently as possible.
Additional information on the water metering installation will be provided in the coming weeks. If you have any questions, please call 250-546-3013 or email mail@spallumcheentwp.bc.ca.
