Fire protection services for the South Spallumcheen area and the Stepping Stones subdivision are provided by the Armstrong Spallumcheen Fire Department, operating under a mutual aid agreement. The Armstrong Spallumcheen Fire Department responds as the primary first responder to all fire-related emergencies. Under the mutual aid agreement, the BX/Swan Lake Fire Department may also be dispatched to assist when requested by the Armstrong Spallumcheen Fire Chief.
Before the current mutual aid agreement was established, fire protection in the area operated under a Fire Suppression Dual Response Agreement between the City of Armstrong, the Township of Spallumcheen, and the Regional District of North Okanagan (RDNO). In 2020, the RDNO chose not to renew this Dual Response Agreement, which led to the development and implementation of the mutual aid agreement now in place.
