The Township of Spallumcheen Bylaw Enforcement Program provides residents with a variety of services related to regulatory issues. Our Bylaw Enforcement Officer works on a complaint - driven basis, administered through the Township office. The Bylaw Officer attempts to gain compliance through education and communication first, and when necessary, will use stronger enforcement actions such as issuing Municipal Tickets or seeking legal solutions.
Farming complaints fall outside of local government authority and are managed by the Ministry of Agriculture. When you have concerns with a farm the following information can assist you with addressing any concerns via the province directive.

Years ago, and in an effort to manage farming practices, the Ministry of Agriculture struck a quasi-judicial Board to assist the province with dealing with concerns and complaints related to farming. This board is know as the Farm Industry Review Board (BCFIRB). The Board’s job is to review, and address concerns related to farm practices to determine if they are working outside what is considered a “normal farm practice” and find a fair and reasonable resolve.
