Open Burning Ban

Open Burning is currently not permitted in the Township of Spallumcheen

As of noon Friday, June 19, 2020, the Ministry of Forests Lands and Natural Resource

has lifted the Category 2 Open Burning Ban for the Kamloops Fire Center. This change

does not apply to areas with local bylaws that prohibit open burning.

• There is no open burning within the Township of Spallumcheen.

The Township’s bylaw advises open burning may commence November 1, 2020;

however, this is contingent on the COVID-19 directives from the Medical Health

Officer or other restrictions issued by the Provincial Government.

Please Note: Campfires/cooking fires are currently permitted, however, please check

the regulations outlined in the Township’s  Fire Prevention Bylaw No. 1909, 2016

Please keep in mind that Campfire bans can take effect quickly as weather conditions

change. It is your responsibility to ensure there are no bans in place.

If you have any questions, please contact the Armstrong Spallumcheen Fire

Department at 250-546-6708.

Please see the June 19, 2020 Media Release for full details.
