Message from Recycle BC - Help Prevent the Spread of COVID-19: What Not to Include in Your Recycle Bins

RESIDENTIAL RECYCLING

The Township of Spallumcheen is not responsible for the curbside recycling collection. The residential recycling program is managed by Recycle BC.

Emterra Environmental has been contracted by Recycle BC to collect the curbside recycling. For enquiries please contact Emterra Environmental directly at 250-545-4245 or askmebc2@emterra.ca.

CHANGES TO CURBSIDE RECYCLING COLLECTION STARTS OCTOBER 2019

Starting on October 14, 2019,  the Township of Spallumcheen will be joining its neighbouring communities and Recycle BC in moving from a Township provided single stream (clear blue bag) curbside recycling program (residents were charged a fee on their property taxes to fund the program), to a provincially managed program using reusable boxes and bags. This change will provide residents access to curbside recycling at no charge.

Details on changes:

  • Start date: October 14, 2019
  • New collection day: Recycling collected every two weeks on Mondays
  • New collection time: Please have your recycling out by 7AM to ensure pick up
  • New container: Reusable box and bag provided by Recycle BC — being delivered starting September 30, 2019. No more single-use plastic bags needed for collection
